I’m both puzzled and intrigued by Apple- the new iPhones are not groundbreaking. A Chinese manufacturer has had phones with equal or better technology (features & capabilities) for a number of years and Samsung’s latest entry blows away the iPhone. Yet, Apple has brand power (mystique?) that is unmistakable and amazing- there are many non-tech people who will buy an Apple product regardless of whether it really is the best. It appears they have lost the leadership mantle for unique, revolutionary and new category products since very few (none?) have been introduced since Steve Jobs died.
True? Is this a problem? Maybe not.
Apple continues to print gobs of money and is expanding into new areas of commerce using their platform to capture more business. The future Apple will not be the Apple that many of us grew up with, and that’s probably good. Businesses need to adapt and change.
